Match Summary: Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City

Match Summary: Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City

It would be goalless in the capital as the points were shared on the penultimate matchday of the 2025/256 ScottishPower Women's Premier League season.

Match Action

City were tested immediately by the hosts' high press but stood firm and we created the first opportunity of the match as Abi Harrison tested Rachael Johnstone.

City threatened again when Emily Gray swung in a promising cross from the left. Emily Whelan connected with a header, but her effort sailed over the bar.

Next, a Hayley Lauder corner swung into a crowded box was scrambled away by Johnstone. Hearts cleared their lines briefly, only for Gray to regain possession and deliver back into the area, met by Kimberley Smit, but her effort flashed just over.

Hearts responded through Georgia Timms, who broke forward and attempted to swing a cross into the box, but Amy Muir was alert to shut down the danger.

In added time of the first half, City earned a free kick just outside the area. Lauder delivered into the box searching for a final touch, but Hearts managed to clear and counter. A speculative strike followed, drifting wide of Lee Gibson's posts.

City dominated much of the first half but began the second on more level terms, with the hosts increasing their attacking intent.

An eventful restart saw Eilidh Shore fire from distance, forcing a save from Gibson, while Danique Ypema's free kick sailed over the crossbar.

Fresh legs were brought on at the 71st minute as Erin McLaughlin, Lisa Forrest and Natalia Wróbel replaced Hayley Lauder, Abigail Harrison and Emily Gray.

Forrest nearly made an immediate impact, sending a header narrowly wide in the 75th minute, before testing Johnstone again. Linda Motlhalo drove forward with purpose shortly after, slipping the ball wide to Forrest, whose cross aimed for Whelan, but the connection was mistimed.

The game continued to ebb and flow, with both sides battling for control.

Added time gave the fans whiplash as possession was travelling from end to end. Whelan unleashed a powerful strike that stretched the keeper, while Hearts forced another corner that Gibson intercepted.

The closing stages were played at full throttle, with both sides pushing for a winner in added time. City drove forward until the final whistle but we left the capital with a hard earned point, turning our focus to next week's clash against Rangers at The Peasy.
