We can confirm that we have agreed to the early termination of Mebae Tanaka's contract as she looks to move closer to home.
The winger, who signed for the club in August 2025, became the first Japanese player to sign for the club and went on to make sixteen appearances and scoring three goals, leaving with a Sky Sports Cup winners medal.
Mebs had the following message to share with supporters.
''I’m incredibly proud to have spent this season as part of Glasgow City FC.
I was surrounded by amazing teammates, club staff, and supporters, and I learned so much, not only about football, but also as a person. Every day brought new lessons and memories that I’ll always treasure.
I’m also truly grateful to everyone who supported and respected my decision.
I’ll continue supporting Glasgow City from the bottom of my heart and wish the club nothing but success in the future.''
We thank Mebs both for her contributions on the pitch and her infectious personality off of it, wherever her journey takes her next she will always have a place to call home at The Peasy.
Once City, Always City!
