With the new season approaching Head Coach Leanne Ross has strengthened her coaching team with the appointment of former Scotland international and vastly experienced coach, Michelle Barr.
A defender during her time as a player, the 87 times-capped SWNT international had an extensive playing career covering Scotland, England, Iceland and the United States.
While in the States she has enjoyed two hugely successful spells in the collegiate system, first at Dartmouth College where she was assistant to fellow Scot Angie Hind.
A spell as player-coach at Rangers would follow, before she returned to the other side of the Atlantic, working with Hind again at Old Dominion Monarchs as success continued.
A former Scotland captain she has previously been involved with the Scottish Football Association as a National Youth Support Programme Manager for Girls and Women's Football and was also part of the SWNT scouting team ahead of the 2019 World Cup.
Speaking on joining Glasgow City Michelle was quick to share her reasons for joining the club.
''It's a great opportunity to work with a team that's been so successful over the years. One that is fully led by women, very independent and doesn't rely on men's clubs. I think the opportunity to do that, and also being from Scotland, being in Scotland previously seeing the work that both Laura and Cas have done here has been really impressive.
''I'm excited to work with players. I'm very passionate about that, developing players, helping them be the best they can be and to work alongside Leanne, who has had success here both as a player and as a coach.
We've only ever played against each other so it's nice to now be on this side of things. I've been against them and now I get to be alongside them, so that's pretty, pretty cool.''
Head Coach Leanne Ross was pleased to a bring a coach of Michelle's calibre into her coaching team.
"For me, Michelle brings a wealth of experience.
She's been in America for a long time as assistant coach and even before that with her playing career in the national team. She's just going to be that extra support for me.
The knowledge and experience she brings will be hugely beneficial. I'm looking forward to getting started, developing that relationship as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach. I think it's a very exciting appointment for the club."
Michelle will be in the dugout this coming Sunday as we begin our ScottishPower Women's Premier League season at home to Celtic this coming Sunday.
