Motherwell v Glasgow City - SWPL Preview

Motherwell v Glasgow City - SWPL Preview

The final week of this Scottish Women's Premier League campaign begins at K Park for Glasgow City as we take on Motherwell in our penultimate fixture.

For the final time on the road this season, we make the journey to East Kilbride knowing a win is needed if we are to be in with a chance of taking the title race down to the final day.

Last time out

It is another quick turnaround for Leanne Ross and her side as we face Motherwell just three days after our 2-2 draw with Hibernian.

At Meadowbank, Kimberley Smit had given City an early lead when she headed home a Hayley Lauder corner after only seven minutes, but we would trail 2-1 at half-time after goals for Eilidh Adams and Kathleen McGovern.

An improved second-half performance ensured City claimed a point as Nicole Kozlova netted our equaliser just after the hour mark, hitting a low drive into the bottom corner.

Previous meeting

Our last clash against Motherwell took place at Hampden as we defeated the Women of Steel 4-0 in the semi-finals of this season's Scottish Cup last month.

Sofia Määttä scored our first goal in the 34th minute, before Kozlova had us 2-0 up at half-time. We continued to dominate in the second half and reaped our reward thanks to Katie Lockwood's brace.

We also faced Motherwell in the SWPL in mid-April, with it finishing 4-0 at Petershill Park. On that occasion, Brenna Lovera netted twice in the first period, whilst Lockwood bagged a double with goals in either half.
