Preview: Glasgow City v Aberdeen

The final game of the month see’s us welcome Aberdeen to Petershill Park in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

The Opposition:

It’s Aberdeen’s second season in the Scottish Women’s Premier League following promotion in 2021. Last year saw them finish fifth and are looking to replicate that again this season.

Coached by the duo of Emma Hunter and Gavin Beith, the Dons have a young squad with many players featuring for Scotland’s youth squads.

Bailley Collins is their top goalscorer so far this season but she is one of many threats Aberdeen have going forward alongside Bayley Hutchinson and Francesca Ogilvie who both reached double figures last season.

Previous Meetings:

Last season saw Glasgow City and Aberdeen meet for the first time since 2017 as the Dons returned to the top flight of Scottish Women’s football. City won all three games between the sides with a 5-0 victory away at Glebe Park in Brechin followed by two victories at Petershill Park with an aggregate scoreline of 14-2.

Form Guide:

Aberdeen collected their first point of the season last weekend in a 2-2 draw at home to Partick Thistle despite leading twice. The Dons opened the season with a 3-1 defeat away to Hamilton Academical before losing 8-0 against Rangers.

City made it three wins from three in the SWPL during the week with a 7-0 victory over Dundee United having previously beaten Spartans by the same scoreline and Motherwell at K Park before the UWCL games.
