Preview: Glasgow City v AS Roma

It’s that time again, the UEFA Women’s Champions League returns!

Match Information:

For the first time since 2019, European football returns to Petershill Park as City welcome Italian side AS Roma to Glasgow in the semi final of Group 2 in the First Round Qualifiers of the League Path.

Kick off is at 7.35pm with tickets available on our website by clicking here. Adults are £12, Senior tickets £8 and U16s for a fiver.

The Opposition:

AS Roma will make their UEFA Women’s Champions League debut this season following their best ever finish of second place in Serie A.

The Italian side won their first major honour when they won the Coppa Italia in 2020-21 after a penalty shoot out victory over AC Milan and followed up with their best finish in the league last season.

Roma had five players that were selected for the UEFA Women’s European Championships this summer in their squad.

Previous Meetings:

Glasgow City have never faced Italian opposition before in the club’s history. It is also the first ever meeting in the UEFA Women’s Champions League between a Scottish and Italian side.

Form Guide:

AS Roma are yet to start their domestic season in Italy but ended the 2021-22 Serie A season strongly as they surged away from AC Milan and Sassuolo however they missed out on defending their Coppa Italia title as they were beaten 2-1 by Juventus in the Final.

City made it two wins from two on Sunday thanks to a last minute winner from Jenna Clark when she headed home Mairead Fulton’s corner. The opening game at Petershill Park had seen City beat Spartans 7-0.
