Third meets fourth this weekend as City return from a ten day break to face Hearts in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
Match Information:
It is a second game in a row against Edinburgh opposition, this time at home as Hearts are the visitors to Petershill Park.
If you are unable to make it to Petershill Park on Sunday, you can keep up to date with all the action on our social channels or watch the game live on BBC Sport Scotland website. Kick off is at 1.00pm.
The Opposition:
After successive eighth placed finishes, Hearts are looking to kick on in their third season in the top flight of Scottish Women’s football. It is Manager Eva Olid’s second season in charge of the Jambos.
She is recruited well over the summer with Emma Brownlie and Ciara Grant joining from Rangers while Georgia Timms has certainly hit the ground running, scoring 6 times already this season including an opening day hat-trick.
Hearts are definitely a club to watch out for this season as they aim to beat their Edinburgh rivals Hibernian and Spartans to fourth place.
Previous Meetings:
Glasgow City have won every encounter between the two sides going back to the first meeting back in 2010 in the Scottish Women’s Cup.
Last season saw three tight matches with all three games ending in a 2-0 scoreline for City. Hayley Lauder scored in both games at the Oriam while the match at Petershill Park saw Clare Shine and Ode Fulutudilu get on the scoresheet.
Form Guide:
It has been a strong start to the season for Hearts with two wins on the bounce over Dundee United and Glasgow Women moving them up to fourth in the table.
Hearts are yet to pick up a point on the road with their two games away from the home this season ending in defeats against Spartans and Rangers.
City continued their 100% record in the SWPL last week with a 4-0 victory away at Hibernian. At home, City have scored 16 goals over the three league games so far, conceding only the once.
