Preview: Rangers v Glasgow City

Preview: Rangers v Glasgow City

Glasgow City travel to last season Scottish Women’s Premier League champions Rangers for our final game of January.

Match Information:

It’s first against third at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld this Sunday with City sitting seven points clear of our hosts ahead of our SWPL meeting.

If you are unable to make it to Broadwood Stadium on Sunday, you can keep up to date with all the action on our social channels or watch the match live on BBC ALBA. Kick off is at 4.10pm.

The Opposition:

We visit Broadwood Stadium for the first time with Rangers as our hosts. They moved to Cumbernauld for the 2022-23 season after previously playing at their Training Centre.

Rangers won their second ever trophy in December when they beat Hibernian in the final of the Sky Sports Cup but Malky Thomson’s side have work to do if they are to defend their title this season.

Previous Meetings:

The first SWPL meeting between Glasgow City and Rangers was a tale of two penalties as the points were shared at Petershill Park. Lauren Davidson scored from the spot for City before Tessel Middag equalised for the visitors.

Form Guide:

Rangers currently sit in third place but have a game on hand the sides above them. They’ve only won two of their last five SWPL matches but are unbeaten this season.

In their last match, Rangers scored seven at K Park against Motherwell.

Glasgow City sit top of the SWPL with only two points dropped all season and currently sit five points clear. City have not dropped points away from home this season.

Last time out, doubles from Priscila Chinchilla and Jenna Clark helped City to a 6-0 victory over Hamilton Academical.
