Glasgow City stayed in the thick of the SWPL title race courtesy of a 1-1 draw away to league leaders Rangers in a entertaining encounter at Ibrox Stadium.
Lee Gibson, Amy Muir and Sofia Määttä all returned to the starting line up as City travelled to face our city rivals for the first time this season in a game that would be keenly contested throughout.
The visitors would control the first half taking the lead with fifteen minutes on the clock as Brenna Lovera picked up the ball inside her own half before going on a lung-bursting run, jinking past the Rangers defence before a loose ball fell to Emily Whelan inside the area, allowing the Irish striker to open the scoring to net her fifth goal in five games.
The City midfield would continue to dictate play in the opening period and Lovera nearly doubled the lead with seconds left off the opening period.
On this occasion thought Jenna Fife was up to the challenge making a remarkable save from close range to keep the deficit for her side to one going into the break and to deny the American striker a first goal since her return from injury.
Rangers introduced Kirsty MacLean at the start of the second period and the diminutive midfielder started to help turn the tide in the home team's favour with Gibson sharp to deny the free-scoring Katie Wilkinson and then substitute Rio Hardy as the Rangers pressure began to build.
That pressure would eventually generate an equaliser as Wilkinson and Hardy combined inside the City penalty box for the former Durham forward to drive home from close range.
Rangers continued to push for a second and although substitute Nicole Kozlova nearly snatched a winner for Leanne Ross' side the points would be shared as the two sides continue to be separated by just a point at the top of the table.
