Glasgow City can today confirm that Scott Booth will be leaving his role at the club following the international break to take up a new opportunity as Head Coach at Aberdeen with both sides having come to a mutual agreement to release him early from his current contract.
Scott rejoined the club in the summer taking on the role of Assistant Head Coach within Leanne Ross' coaching team and helped the side reach the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League table this past Sunday.
In his previous spell with the club he won six consecutive SWPL titles along with two Scottish Cup’s in 2015 and 2019 he returned to Scotland this summer following spells with Birmingham City and Lewes in England.
Speaking on his departure Scott wanted to share the following message.
''There's been interest from Aberdeen for a while. They are my hometown club and one I have had a long association with. The decision to accept this opportunity has been difficult, particularly given how amazing Laura, Leanne and all the players and staff have been in welcoming me back to a club, and place that mean a lot to me.''
''Weighing up personal circumstances and the opportunity that the Aberdeen project provides professionally it felt like this was the right decision to make at this time.''
''I've hugely enjoyed reacquainting myself with old faces and getting to know new ones and working with Leanne in slightly reversed roles has been brilliant and I wish them all continued success for the season to ahead.''
Chief Executive Laura Montgomery also had a message to share.
''Everyone at Glasgow City wishes Scott nothing but the best for him and his family and he will always be welcome at Petershill Park. Work has already begun to find a suitable candidate to join Leanne and her coaching team.''
Scott will continue to work with the squad before completing his move north later this month.
