Scottish Cup Preview: Glasgow City v Hamilton Academical

The opening game of the new year is a Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie against fellow Scottish Women’s Premier League side, Hamilton Academical.

Our first match of 2023 see’s us welcome Hamilton Academical to Petershill Park in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

The Opposition:

Hamilton Academical reached the Fifth Round in last season’s Scottish Cup before exiting the competition at the hands of Glasgow City.

Accies were knocked out at the first stage of the Sky Sports Cup and will look to avoid a similar fate in this competition. The furthest Hamilton have made it in this competition was the Semi Finals back in 2012.

Previous Meetings:

Hamilton Academical and Glasgow City met back in October at New Douglas Park in the Scottish Women’s Premier League. A hat-trick of penalties from Lauren Davidson helped secure the three points for City with Priscila Chinchilla, Kinga Kozak and Abbi Grant also getting on the scoresheet.

Form Guide:

After two wins in the opening three games, Hamilton Academical have won once since then with an away victory against Spartans in October.

Last time out, Hamilton suffered defeat to Hearts.

Glasgow City sit top of the SWPL table going into the new year with 11 victories and one draw from the 12 SWPL games this season.

City’s last match of 2022 saw us come from behind to beat Hibernian at Petershill Park.
