Sophia Martin Extends City Stay

We are excited to announce that Scotland youth international Sophia Martin has signed a new two-year-contract with the club.

Sophia, who in 2023 became the youngest female player in the UK to sign a full-time deal, has spent the past season on loan at Montrose where she scored five goals, and assisted on four occasions as the Angus side comfortably secured their SWPL1 status.

She was also winner of the Angus side's Social Media Fans Player of the Year and was a key part of the side that reached the Scottish Cup semi-finals for the first time.

Internationally, she would score the decisive goal for Scotland U19s as they defeated Austria 2-1 earlier this season and has a been a regular feature across the SWNT age groups.

Speaking on her contract extension the Academy graduate had the following message to share.

"I'm really excited to extend my stay at City. I've loved every minute being here and can't wait to see what the next season holds."

Head Coach Leanne Ross was pleased to give the 19-year-old the opportunity to continue her development with the club.

''Sophia has bags of natural talent, and throughout her spell at Montrose we were continually monitoring the positive impact she had on, what was a successful, season.

We look forward to welcoming Sophia back for pre-season where the hard work will begin in taking her game to the next level.''

One of our own, here to stay. You just love to see it!
