SWPL MATCH PREVIEW: Aberdeen v Glasgow City

SWPL MATCH PREVIEW: Aberdeen v Glasgow City

This Sunday we travel north to Aberdeen for our first away ScottishPower Women's Premier League match of the season. After a frustrating start against Celtic on opening day, attention now turns to an opportunity to build from that performance and secure three points against Aberdeen.

Last Time Out:

The 2026/27 SWPL season got underway at The Peasy as City hosted Celtic on opening day.

Lisa Forrest gave City an early start but the visitors responded with two first-half goals on an afternoon that also saw summer signings Kelly Brady, Jesi Rossman and Ruby Seaby make their Glasgow City debuts.

Previous Meeting

Following the November international break, we returned to action, recording a 5-0 victory over Aberdeen at Petershill Park. After a closely contested opening spell, City took control before the break, with Nicole Kozlova and Sofia Maatta finding the net.

Aberdeen threatened on occasion and were denied by several saves from Lee Gibson, but City showed their quality in the second half. Lana Golob extended the lead with a superb volley before substitutes Mebae Tanaka and Lisa Forrest added to the scoreboard.

Just a week later, Aberdeen returned to Petershill Park for the Sky Sports Cup Quarter Final clash. City once again came out on top, securing our place in the final four with a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Nicole Kozlova and Katie Lockwood.
