SWPL Match Preview: Celtic v Glasgow City

SWPL Match Preview: Celtic v Glasgow City

In the last match before the first international break of the 2025/26 season, we make the trip to New Douglas Park to face Celtic in a top-of-the-table ScottishPower Women's Premier League clash.

With City going into the game at the league summit and only three points separating the two sides, it is set to be an entertaining battle against the only team we are yet to face this domestic season.

Last Time Out

We come into the clash with Celtic following a historic win in midweek, as we defeated HB Køge, 5-3 in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup, 6-5 on aggregate, to claim a place in the Round of 16.

In what was a goal-fest at the Peasy, we overturned a 2-1 defeat from the first leg and came back from being 1-0 down after two minutes in the second leg to secure the eventual win thanks to goals from Abi Harrison, Emily Whelan, Emma Brownlie, Lisa Forrest and a Køge own goal.

Our most recent SWPL match saw us defeat Partick Thistle 2-0 in the Peasy Derby last weekend. Goals from Forrest and Sofia Määttä in either half helped secure another vital three points.

Previous Meeting

We last faced Celtic in our penultimate home game at Petershill Park last season, where we defeated Elena Sadiku's side, who were then the reigning league champions, 3-1.

An electric start saw City race into a 3-0 lead by the end of the first half, with Nicole Kozlova netting a brace and Brenna Lovera capitalised on a goalkeeping error to add our third on the stroke of half time.

Celtic scored a consolation goal inside the opening ten minutes of the second period when Lucy Ashworth-Clifford got herself on the scoresheet.
