SWPL Match Preview: Rangers v Glasgow City

SWPL Match Preview: Rangers v Glasgow City

City will play back-to-back Scottish Women's Premier League games for the first time since the opening fortnight of the season this weekend, making the short trip to Ibrox Stadium to face Rangers.

It is set to be a huge clash in Govan with the league's current top-two sides meeting with only a point separating Rangers at the summit and City in second, with The Original Trailblazers having a game in hand due to our involvement in Europe.

Last Time Out

We continued our winning start to the SWPL campaign in our last match, defeating Hearts 5-1 at Petershill Park to make it five victories from five.

In what was a dominant display throughout from Leanne Ross' side, Natalia Wróbel opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, before Abi Harrison and Nicole Kozlova made it 3-0 by half-time.

The second half saw City pick up where they left off, with Kozlova completing her brace inside the first 15 minutes after the restart before Sofia Määttä finished the scoring with her first goal of the season.

Previous Meeting

The two sides last met on the final day of the 2024/25 domestic season in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden. A disappointing afternoon for City saw Rangers claim a 3-0 win in the showpiece event.

In the SWPL, we last faced Rangers at Ibrox midway through the split last term, where we secured an impressive 1-0 win on the road.

An all-round team performance plus a Brenna Lovera penalty late in the first half saw us secure the three points in Govan.
