SWPL Match Summary: Glasgow City 1-1 Celtic

In our final home league match before the ScottishPower Women's Premier League split, we put another important point on the board following a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Petershill.

Nicole Kozlova's second goal in as many games sent us 1-0 up just after the hour mark, before Morgan Cross levelled the score in the 76th minute.

Match Action from Petershill Park

The first proper chance of the match fell to City after 10 minutes, as we broken on the counter-attack allowing Natalia Wróbel to find Emily Whelan down the right flank, but the Irish forward's floated shot dropped wide of the target.

Moments later, Wróbel had a go herself from range, but her strike was held by Celtic goalkeeper Lisa Rodgers.

Another move on the break saw Kozlova cut the ball back to Wróbel, who saw her shot blocked by Tara O'Hanlon, before Lisa Forrest saw her effort on the rebound cleared.

Having had little to do throughout the first half, goalkeeper Lee Gibson had to be alert to collect a dangerous-looking cross from Maddi Wilde before it dropped to a Celtic attacker in the box.

Into injury time in the first half, the visitors registered their best effort so far. They hit us on the counter attack, with Morgan Cross finding an incoming Poppy Pritchard, who sailed it over the bar.

In the second half, it was Celtic who had the first shot on goal as we approached the hour mark, but Pritchard saw her powerful drive gathered by City's Gibson.

But it would be City who took the lead, and it came from a great run by Whelan down the right side. Our No.11 cut inside and released a shot that was spilled by goalkeeper Rodgers, and Kozlova was there to send home the rebound from a couple of yards out.

It should have been 2-0 soon after, and a brace for Kozlova, but she was denied by the feet of Rodgers, after tapping Wróbel's cutback from the byline towards goal from only a couple yards out.

The visitors would equalise with just less than 15 minutes to go, as Cross fired home a Maria McAneny cross at the back post.

Celtic had a chance to take the lead, but former City defender Claire Walsh was denied by Gibson, who did incredibly well to tip the Irish defender's header onto the bar before Hayley Lauder cleared the danger.

We looked to bag the winner in the final 10 minutes when Kozlova sent in a good cross from the second phase of a corner, but substitute Sofia Määtta's header landed off target.

On the stroke of full-time, Gibson made another fine stop, this time punching clear a threatening free-kick by McAneny down the right wing.
