We returned to Scottish Women's Premier League action following our midweek win in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup in impressive fashion, as we defeated Hearts 5-1 at Petershill Park.
Natalia Wróbel opened the scoring after only 10 minutes, before Abi Harrison doubled our advantage with an impressive strike from inside the box. Goals from Nicole Kozlova in either half ensured our No.19 a brace, whilst Sofia Määttä scored her first goal of the season in the 69th minute to secure an emphatic win for City despite Hearts' late consolation effort.
Match action from the Peasy
City took the lead after just 10 minutes and it was a second goal in as many league games for Wróbel. She was played through by Abi Harrison, who had done incredibly well to hold the ball up in the final third, before playing through our No.10, and she fired it into the back of the net.
And we could have been 2-0 up with only 16 minutes on the clock, but Wróbel was denied her brace after her strike, having been teed up by Sofia Määttä, rattled off the crossbar.
But our second goal did soon arrive and it was a third league goal of the season for Harrison. She managed to get a shot away from a tight angle in the box, whilst being man-marked by a Hearts player, and her strike dropped into the back of the net.
It was 3-0 at half-time as Kozlova netted her third goal in two games, having scored a brace off the bench in the Europa Cup in midweek, just after the half-hour mark. The ball dropped to her feet at the back post thanks to a Määttä cross, and she sent it home to extend our advantage.
Early on in the second half, those inside the Peasy thought we had scored our fourth when Harrison played the ball to Kozlova, and she struck it goalwards, however, she was denied her brace when Hearts skipper Georgia Hunter hooked it off the line.
Kozlova did indeed bag her brace though and it came only minutes after that chance. She received the ball from goalkeeper Lee Gibson, before driving down the left wing, into the box and slotting it into the bottom corner.
We went 5-0 up with just over 20 minutes to go when the ball bounced around inside the Hearts box, before it fell to the feet of Määtta and she struck it beyond visiting goalkeeper Rachael Johnstone.
Hearts pulled a goal back late on through substitute Jenna Slattery, as she slotted it into the bottom corner despite Gibson's best effort to claw it away from danger.
