SWPL Match Summary: Glasgow City 0-0 Hibernian

SWPL Match Summary: Glasgow City 0-0 Hibernian

In our final match before the international break, City were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League against Hibernian at Petershill Park.

Despite the points being shared, we remain unbeaten after 12 games this season and go into the break sitting four points clear at the top of the table.

Match Action from Petershill Park

Against Hibs, there was just the one change from our European clash in midweek with Erín McLaughlin returning to the starting XI, in place of Linda Motlhalo, for the first time in six matches across all competitions.

Despite City enjoying most of the ball inside the first 10 minutes, it would be the visitors who had the first real chance of the game, with goalkeeper Lee Gibson making herself big to deny Rosie Livingstone.

At the other end, an inviting ball from a corner was whipped in by Lisa Evans, and several orange shirts had a go at hitting towards goal but none of those efforts could find a way through a busy box.

Soon after, Hibs captain Rachael Boyle hit the best chance of the match so far, as she saw her strike from 20 yards out come back off the cross bar.

A great ball through switched the play to Nicole Kozlova down the left side, but our No.19 could not keep her shot down and it was hit over the target.

Midway through the first half, a training-move corner saw the ball eventually drop to the feet of McLaughlin, who unleashed a strike which sailed over the Hibs bar.

Boyle was next to have a go for the visitors with a shot that she directed wide of the post, not troubling goalkeeper Gibson.

With just over five minutes to go to half-time, Abi Harrison was played through on goal, but saw her driving effort gathered by Hibs goalkeeper Noa Schumacher, while at the other end, Siobhan Hunter crashed a close-range strike into the side-netting.

In the second half, we fashioned the best chance since the break, with Amy Muir sending a dangerous pass across the face of goal, finding an incoming Sofia Määttä, who hit an effort into the side-netting from close range.

Our No.21 had another opportunity to net the opener soon after, as she was played clear through on goal, but this time her strike was turned behind by goalkeeper Schumacher.

A great piece of defending by Muir kept the score at 0-0 as she cleared a Tegan Bowie pass away from an awaiting Livingstone, who would have only had to have made the slightest of touches to put the ball into the back of the net.

We went close with 20 minutes left to play, but Kozlova scuffed her strike, before Natalia Wróbel saw her rebounded effort blocked by defender Caley Gibb.

It was City who looked more like scoring and our next chances came from Kozlova and substitute Lisa Forrest, with both players seeing their respective strikes saved by Schumacher.

In the final five minutes, goalkeeper Gibson made a huge save as she denied Kirsten Reilly from close range after Hibs looked to hit us against the run of play.
