We continued our unbeaten start to the ScottishPower Women's Premier League season, coming from 1-0 down to claim a 1-1 draw against Hibernian at Meadowbank.
Both goals came in the first half as the home side took the lead through Eilidh Adams after 20 minutes before Katie Lockwood equalised against her former club from a corner just over 10 minutes later.
The point gained means City stay top of the table after seven games played, now with a week's break from league action due to the Sky Sports Cup second round this Sunday, and now three clear of second-placed Rangers who have 16 points.
Match action from Meadowbank
There were four changes from Sunday's win over Rangers with Chloe Warrington, Katie, Hayley Lauder, and Emily Whelan all coming into the XI at Meadowbank.
A great move from City saw Whelan get the ball out of our defensive third, before playing through Lockwood. She linked up with Abi Harrison, whose pass to Nicole Kozlova was cleared out for a corner.
The corner, a well-worked training move, saw Lauder find an awaiting Amy Muir outside the area and she swung it in the box. It fell to Amy Anderson and she saw her strike collected by Hibs goalkeeper Noa Schumacher.
City were let off in the 16th minute when Rosie Livingstone was played through from a defence-splitting pass from Hibs captain Rachael Boyle, but despite being one-v-one with Lee Gibson, she fired her shot wide.
We went 1-0 down after 20 minutes when City failed to clear their lines from a throw-in in the final third and the home side were allowed to send the ball into the box, and Adams then volleyed the ball into the back of the net from inside the box.
It could have been two in quick fashion, but an expertly timed interception from Gibson saw our goalkeeper swipe the ball from the feet of an incoming Livingstone in the area.
City pulled level just after the half-hour mark and it came from a corner. It was whipped in by Lauder, punched into the danger area by goalkeeper Schumacher and fired into the back of the net by Lockwood for her second goal of the season.
In the second half, there were a lack of chances for both sides. Our best opportunity came just after the hour mark when an inviting cross from a Lauder free-kick was gathered in the air by the Hibs goalkeeper.
Midway through the second half, a great ball from Lockwood found Whelan down the left flank. She burst into the final third, opting to shoot, and it soared just wide of the far post.
With less than 10 minutes left to go, City were reduced to 10 players as Lana Golob was shown a straight red card for what the referee adjudged to be last-player foul on Adams.
In injury time, Tegan Bowie burst up the wing before eventually finding Kathleen McGovern in the box, but the Hibs No.10 was denied by a well-timed block by substitute Emma Brownlie, before the rebounded effort was skied over the bar.
City are next in SWPL action next weekend when we host Partick Thistle for a derby clash at the Peasy on October 12. Get your tickets here!
