The Start of a Glasgow City Tradition

The Start of a Glasgow City Tradition

Upon reaching our 500th game in the SWPL, Glasgow City have introduced a new tradition; players - past, present, and future - will sign a frame decorated with our club crest.

The Original Trailblazers reached the milestone appearance in our league match against Hibernian at Petershill Park on Sunday.

The frame is designed to reflect the history of the club and those who have played their part in it. From the Class of '98 to this season's title-chasers, they are now immortalised by pen.

And at half-time on Sunday, the first signatures adorned the frame.

Fittingly, co-founders Laura Montgomery and Carol-Anne Stewart were the first to sign their names, before being joined by a number of former players, including Scotland's most-capped player Gemma Fay, ex-City captain Lauren McMurchie and Amy McDonald, who was on co-commentary duties for BBC Alba's coverage of the fixture.

The signatures of the current squad and former players and current coaches Leanne Ross and Leanne Crichton have now been added to the frame, which has the apt slogan 'the trailblazing never stops' printed below the badge.

For those who join the club, they will be asked to etch their names on their first days. Once City, always City - and that promise is established from the very beginning of time spent with us.

Join us for our remaining SWPL games at Petershill Park - you can get your tickets here!
