Glasgow City are happy to announce the arrival of Republic of Ireland international Erín McLaughlin, who has joined the club on a two-year contract with the option of an additional year.
The 22-year-old midfielder arrives in Scotland after playing in the FA Women’s Championship – now known as WSL 2 – last season with Portsmouth, helping the south coast side go on a resurgent run during the second half of the year to impressively avoid relegation in their first campaign in England’s second tier.
Upon signing for City, McLaughlin said: “It feels great to be here. With how positive the environment is, how successful the club has been, and after speaking with Leanne - it seemed like the right move for me."
Head coach Leanne Ross added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Erin to Glasgow City. She’s an exciting young talent with a great deal of potential and we’re confident she’ll continue to develop here.
"Erin has proven herself in the domestic leagues in Ireland and England, and has been capped at international level. We’re excited to see her grow in our environment and to see what she can contribute to the team."
Prior to her move to Pompey, McLaughlin played for Peamount United where she won the 2023 Premier Division title. She made 63 appearances and scored 21 goals during her two years at the club.
On the international stage, McLaughlin – whose former clubs also include Sion Swifts and Donegal side Culdaff – has been capped three times for the Republic of Ireland’s senior team, making her debut against Zambia in June 2023.
She was most recently involved with her national side during June’s international window as part of the Republic of Ireland squad who travelled across the Atlantic to face reigning Olympic champions the United States in two friendlies.
Everyone at Glasgow City are delighted to welcome Erín to the club and we look forward to watching her shine during her time with us.
Your first chance to watch Erín in action will be at this Sunday's pre-season friendly against Hamilton Accies. Use your 2025/26 season ticket - which can be bought on Fanbase - for entry to Petershill Park!
