It has been another incredibly busy year for the Glasgow City Academy. From our mini kickers up to U18s we've grown to well over 200 girls and continue to be the place for girls to come and enjoy sport and make friends playing football, as well as having our performance pathway.
Our Academy Manager, Sarah Crilly, shares her thoughts on this past year:
"2022 has been a great year for Glasgow City Foundation. Earlier in the year we hit the 200 player mark making us one of the biggest girls academies in Scotland.
Throughout the year our Academy has continued to go from strength to strength both on and off the park.
New partnership were formed with The Football Base leading to the implementation of the Glasgow City Curriculum.
Athlete Focus continued to provide excellent service via Sports Scientist and also online sessions covering a range of topics such as Nutrition, Psychology, The Female Body and Strength and Conditioning for every single player. These sessions gave all players the knowledge on what it takes to become the best they can be.
On the park, we managed to secure 5 trophies across our 14s teams which for their first year at 11 aside is a huge testament to their dedication and desire.
We have also continued to work alongside the Scottish FA and delivering sessions in partnership with McDonalds, Network Rail and Disney. All of which give girls of any ability the opportunity to play football.
Via Active Schools Glasgow we were able to host weekly sessions in schools leading to a girls football festival which saw over 60 girls attend.
At Glasgow City Foundation we believe in inspiring any young player to grow as both a player and a person within our Academy and projects.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the players, parents, guardians, coaches and the board for all their hard work and commitment to the club.
We look forward to seeing everyone after the Christmas break refreshed a ready to go for the new season.
See you in 2023!"
